Mark Knopfler...an extraordinarily rare and gifted guitarist - what a tremendous storyteller with his music, as well. If you passed this guy on the street today, you'd never recognize him for Mark Knopfler; just some regular older-man having a stroll. He continues to prove what we all knew about him right from Dire Straits' debut album - nobody will ever sound like this guy, EVER; It's just not possible. He stands alone and peerless as of yet.

Seen the straits in the 80’s in Sydney and I have always loved his guitar playing. Such a dam shame they won’t tour again however looking forward to his future projects. Legend 🎸

I have a funny story to share. In the early 90s we were walking thru a club in Australia my wife and I and happened on a musician on a small stage playing sultans of swing. We stopped and listened and the guy playing the guitar said you're a fan of Mark Knopfler? My wife replied oh yes! my husband has Marks autograph he got when Dire Straits toured Australia. Later, many years later actually, we realised that musician we were talking to was none other than Keith Urban! haha. This was b4 he tried his luck in America of course and became a household name. Suffice to say we didn't ask for his autograph ! LOL.

A total legend, an incredible guitarist and his work with so many famous artists including Bob Dylan. Brothers in Arms was one of the first CDs released, unfortunately you could hear the background hiss from the multitrack recording tape but apart from that it was amazing. Lovely to see him back making records. and when I saw Dire Straits at the Rainbow Theatre in the 70s there was a lot of, shall we say, ‘jazz cigarettes’

So many great, brilliant songs, Going Home amongst them, yet they have to open with Money For Nothing... my least favorite DS song. One of the few advantages about streaming albums now, you can excise songs. Brothers In Arms suffers not the slightest bit going from So Far Away straight into Walk of Life.

Riffs not rifts Bloody hell. Knopfler probably looks like his grandad now. His music was great. Now it's dated and bland.

Я впервые увидел Марка по телевизору в сентябре 1988г.Показывали концерт Даер Стрейц по телевидению СССР. Хотя пластинка Даер Стрейц у меня была уже в 1986 г. С тех пор люблю его особую музыку. С уважением из России.
